Family Court Pilot Project Comes To Moncton

A new system is being introduced in Moncton court for family cases which should reduce delays, improve access and encourage alternate dispute resolutions.

Provincial minister Cathy Rogers says the Gallant government is investing $650,000 which will be used to hire lawyers and court officers.

“This will be six new positions to expand the services for family court for families wanting help with custody, access or support payments,” she notes.

Rogers says a three-year pilot project in Saint John proved successful by shortening wait times from months to days.

She adds it even prevented some cases from going to court.
