Extended Openings At Magnetic Hill Zoo Will Hopefully Draw Big Numbers

A late start for the Magnetic Hill Zoo is going to affect overall numbers this year, but no one appears to be panicking just yet.

The heavy snow this past winter cancelled March openings and this weekend’s Easter Eggstravaganza event.

Zoo Coordinator Bernard Leblanc says it is the inaugural year for the Winter Lights campaign, and that means the Zoo will be open for November and December as well, which will help this year’s overall numbers.

Leblanc says they have some great new additions this year, including the Asian section, with the tigers, and leopards, which will open in June, and the new guinea pic village. They’ve already had a few new babies as well, including ringtail lemurs, and they’re expecting more in May.

The Zoo plans to open for the season on Friday, April 10th.
