Election Campaign: Day 10

On the campaign trail on Saturday, Progressive Conservative leader Blaine Higgs announced his party’s plans to foster outdoorsmanship during a stop in Riverside-Albert.

Higgs said he would change the moose hunt lottery to give all applicants the best opportunity, explore the idea of licence bundling, and evaluate a seniors’ discount on hunting and fishing licences.

He also promised to work with farmers to implement a science-based wildlife management program for a wild turkey hunt.

The Liberals made a stop in Oromocto, where leader Brian Gallant said his government would permanently double investment in the Youth Employment Fund.

The fund was created in 2015 and allows young New Brunswickers to get job experience in their home province.

Its original budget was $10 million, but Gallant said a re-elected Liberal government would increase it to $21.7 million annually for four years.
