Donations Needed After Tenants Lose Everything In Dolma Foods Building Fire

Five adults have been left homeless after that overnight fire on St. George Street, in downtown Moncton.

The tenants in the three apartments located above Dolma Foods lost everything, in a fire that destroyed the building. None of them had tenants insurance.

Founder of Big Hearts, Small City Jason Surette says they’ve been called in to assist, to help find permanent homes for the tenants, “Red Cross notifies us when there’s someone who doesn’t have insurance. That means they potentially have no resources to help them themselves. That’s where we step in to try and find rapid re-housing, so they’re not homeless.”

He says Big Hearts, Small City has also partnered with several other organizations who will be collecting things like clothing and furniture for the tenants, that includes Blankets For Moncton.
