Dieppe And Moncton Hope To Host Francophonie Games In 2021

Dieppe and Moncton have submitted applications to host the 2021 Francophonie Games.

The games are the largest sports and cultural event of the Francophonie and are held every four years in the year after the Summer Olympics.

The event is spread over 10 days and is expected to attract more than 3-thousand athletes from 60 countries.

As well, the economic impact is substantial, estimated to bring in 22-million dollars of benefit to the host cities.

The proposal has yet to receive the approval of the federal government.
