A harm prevention strategy for New Brunswick’s youth is on its way to becoming a reality.
Child & Youth Advocate for the province Norm Bosse says a roundtable involving government officials, members of the business community and young people has met and will be meeting throughout the coming year.
Bosse believes they will need to prioritize when it comes to all of the harms. He says they can’t approach this work haphazardly, and that a system is needed by which they look at the harms and statistics in New Brunswick.
The creation of a harm prevention strategy for youth was recommended in last year’s Status of the Child Report. The newly released report reveals some shocking statistics including that more than one of every 20 youth in New Brunswick has tried meth.
