DEC Holds Sessions On Becoming An Education Councillor

Are you thinking about running as an education councillor in the upcoming municipal elections in New Brunswick?

The Anglophone East District Education Council is holding two information sessions, including one tonight.

Spokesperson Stacey Brown says an education councillor has a different role and scope compared to sitting on a parent school support committee.

“The DEC sets the priorities and addresses the education needs at the district level. So they are dealing with oversight and financial responsibilities at the district level rather than at the school level,” she notes.

The first information session will be held tonight at Bernice MacNaughton High School from 6 until 8pm.

Another session will be held at the same school on Tuesday night, March 1st.
