The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride will roll into Moncton today, after the team cycled thousands of kilometres from Vancouver, BC.
The 17-day ride raises money for cancer research and helps families who have children suffering from the disease.
Chris Collins was last years representative on the ride for Atlantic Canada. He’ll greet the riders today at the Sears on Trinity.
Collins knows first hand what it is like to lose a child to cancer. His son Sean passed away in 2007 at the age of 13.
He says, “Every morning, the riders ride for a kid, that has fought cancer or who is fighting cancer. They’ll be riding from Moncton to Charlottetown in memory of Sean.”
To date, Sears Canada has raised over $7 million for the cause. Their journey will end on Saturday in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
