CUPE NB Holds Information Pickets

Members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees of New Brunswick held information pickets across the province this morning.

A large group gathered across from Champlain Place between 8am and 9am today.

CUPE New Brunswick President Danny Legere says they’re trying to keep the public informed about changes to the pension plans in the province.

Legere says the government has moved from a defined benefit pension plan, where you know what your pension will be, to a targeted plan.

“It’s to raise awareness as to what the province has done in the past, and what could come in the future. We also hope to to put all political parties on notice during this election, that this is an important issue for CUPE members and they’ll be keeping it on the forefront as the election campaign continues.”

He says they’ll be holding another information picket on Friday afternoon in the same location from 4pm until 5pm.
