In the Provincial Legislature, Green Party Leader David Coon says he’s hearing from people in his riding that are furious about the Liberal government’s decision to eliminate the tuition rebate for university graduates.
Coon asking the Premier if the goverment measured effectiveness of the rebate before cutting from the budget.
Premier Gallant says was working to bring students or keep them here.
He says it’s a credit that was given to students that graduated here, found a job and were making enough money to pay taxes.
Gallant says it wasn’t working.
Coon says cancelling the rebate was a mistake telling the Premier there is no shame in fixing mistakes.
