The Conference Board of Canada says the country could be headed for a recession.
However, it won’t be anything like “The Great Recession” of 2009.
The economy contracted by 0.2 per cent in May.
It marks the fifth month in a row the economy did not see any growth.
Economist Matthew Stewart says the news isn’t all bad, as the economy created 16,000 full-time jobs over the first half of the year.
He called the employment numbers a huge improvement compared to 2014.
Stewart expects a rebound in the second half of the year – backed by the trade and export sector.
