Coldest Night Of The Year Fundraiser

As any Canadian can tell you, February is a brutally cold month – definitely not a time you’d want to be without a warm place to stay.

A group in Moncton will be hosting a fundraising event for Moncton’s homeless, hungry and hurting youth on February 21st as part of a national walkathon to raise awareness about youth homelessness.

Youth Impact Associate Director Cathy Manuel says the walkathon has several different routes in Moncton.

“The walkers have the option to walk a 2k, a 5k or a 10k,” says Manuel. “The starting point here in Moncton is at Youth Quest Central, a drop in centre that’s run by Youth Impact.”

Manuel says they already have 15 teams registered but are hoping for another 10 to 15 on top of that with a fundraising goal of $30,000 dollars.

She says the Youth Impact Centre serves about 20 to 30 youth a day – averaging almost 500 different youth each year.
