The Coaltion for Pay Equity is putting the feet of the Liberals and Conservatives to the fire as it tries to get clear commitments prior to the September 22nd provincial election.
The Coalition says it’s unacceptable that home support workers are not making 20 dollars an hour.
The Liberals say they will require any company wanting to do business with the province to have pay equity within their own firms. The Coalition terms that a good first step.
The Conservatives claim pay equity is a priority but offer up no plan to attain it. Both the Green Party and NDP have already said they’re committed to pay equity legislation.
67 per cent of women in the province work for private companies.
