Moncton taxpayers will have to help offset the cost of moving the Wildcats game to the Aitken Centre in Fredericton.
The game can’t be played at the Coliseum on Friday night since the Radical Sport Speed Show is already booked for the building.
City of Moncton communications director Isabelle LeBlanc says the city will pay $125,000 which is stipulated in the last contract negotiated with the Wildcats in January 2017.
The contract runs until the end of this season and the end of the Coliseum.
LeBlanc says everyone wants to see the Wildcats play in Moncton so it’s an unfortunate situation but the circumstances made it impossible to avoid.
A similar scheduling conflict at the Coliseum took place in 2015 during a Wildcats and Halifax Mooseheads playoff series in which the City also paid $125,000 to help offset the cost of moving the game to the Aitken Centre.
