Children Need To Know Grief Is Normal

Grieving children and adults don’t just get over it but they can learn to integrate the death into their lives.

Tomorrow is Children’s Grief Awareness Day.

Grief and Bereavement Resource Nurse Lisa Wing of the IWK in says it’s important to support and let them know their grief is a normal response to death.

She says grief and mourning is not an event but a journey and to do it together authentically and honestly with one another makes a huge difference.

Wing says children don’t get over grief but learn to live, grow and experience joy again knowing it’s not with the physical presence of that person.
