New Brunswick Right to Life disagrees with the Health Minister that changes to abortion access in the province will not result in an increase in women having the procedure.
Executive Director Peter Ryan disagrees saying the new regulations make the procedure free and more accessible so the numbers will likely go up.
He says abortions are free in hospitals where before 60 per cent of the abortions done privately in a clinic were paid for by the woman seeking the service.
Prior the closure of the Morgentaler clinic, abortions were only available in three places in the province.
Now they are available at hospitals in Moncton and Bathurst.
While the law changed January 1st, abortion services may not be available in hospitals unti April due to the hiring required.
