The Greater Moncton Romeo LeBlanc International Airport is welcoming a new cargo airline.
U.S. based Kalitta Air began making stopovers last month thanks to its partnership with Xtreme Cold Storage of Dieppe.
Kalitta Air uses a Boeing 747 and is making shipments of lobster and other seafood products from Moncton to Ningbo, China which is about a two hour drive from Shanghai – the nation’s largest city.
Airport CEO Bernard LeBlanc says the flights have caused a lot of commotion in the region recently due to the sheer size of the aircraft.
LeBlanc adds significant capital investments have enabled the airport to accommodate large aircraft such as a Boeing 747.
