Canadians Are Paying Too Much For Prescription Drugs

Canadians are paying too much for prescription drugs according to federal Health Minister Jane Philpott who estimates it is 25 per cent more than we should compared to similar markets

She points to a leading arthritis drug which costs $30 thousand a year in Ontario but the same drug in France costs $22 thousand. Philpott is vowing the Trudeau Government will do better.

She’s also calling for doctors to move away from using paper presciptions and go to electronic prescribing instead which is what Philpott did in 2008 when she was working as a family doctor.

Philpott also wants better prescribing of drugs and wonders what role the over prescribing of opiods played in that crisis.
