The students at Bessborough School are being encouraged to do random acts of kindness throughout the month of December.
Principal Nick Mattatall says it’s important that the students learn to giveback, especially at this time of year. “We’re doing a Kindness Calendar with our kids. We printed off 480 calendars to give to each of our kids. Anything from donating a can of soup to a Soup Kitchen, to opening a door for someone, it’s just random acts of kindness that they kids can easily do to make a difference for someone else.”
Mattatall says they also have a Facebook page, where others can post their acts of kindness as well, “We’ve had people from all over the world, South Korea, United States, parts of Europe, says that they’ve have done things and it inspires the kids.”
He is always encouraging his students to be a leader, whether it be in their classroom, in their community, or in their household, “It’s like a domino. It takes one person to start a change, and it takes one domino to start the dominoes to fall. You don’t always realize how big that change can be, until you start with something small.”
