Banning Hydraulic Fracturing May Have Greater Impact In NB Says NS Energy Minister

A ban on hydraulic fracturing may not be far away in New Brunswick if the new Liberal government lives-up to its election promises.

Nova Scotia Energy Minister Andrew Younger says its going to be more difficult for Brian Gallant’s Liberals to implement such a ban than in this province. There’s more at stake.

He says that our province has active projects on shore, while the only actual producing project they have on store is a coalbed-methane project in Stellarton.

Younger is currently sheparding a bill through the Nova Scotia Legislature aimed at banning hydraulic fracturing in the province until more is known about the process of extracting shale gas.
