Travel is starting to resume around the globe especially in countries where COVID-19 vaccination rates are high.
As Canada’s vaccination rollout finally gains momentum, the nation’s aviation industry is seeking leadership to reopen according to the CEO of the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport.
Bernard LeBlanc says we don’t have a plan yet and he urges the federal government to begin discussions with the industry.
“We’re on version 15 of our operational plan at the airport. The same thing could happen with this. We could put a plan together and even if we have 15 versions until we get how things happen, at least we know where we’re going and people can plan accordingly,” noted LeBlanc.
Air Canada intends to expand service to Moncton later next month while WestJet aims to resume flights around the same time.
Sunwing also announced recently that direct flights from Moncton to several sunshine destinations will resume in February.
