Considering a career change? The Canadian Space Agency is looking for Astronauts.

In order to apply, it is much like any other job, you have to go through an application process.

But the Project Manager for the Astronaut Recruitment Campaign Karl Saad says there are some education requirements, “What we are looking for as a minimum, is a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science, or a Doctorate in Medicine of Dentistry.”
You have to be a Canadian, or a permanent resident of Canada, and also have 3 years of experience in relation to your degree.
Saad says, “You must also be a well rounded person with good interpersonal skills. As an Astronaut, you’ll be a spokesperson for the Canadian Space Agency and representative of Canada. Also, we need someone who can stay composed and assess a situation fairly quickly.”
He says, you must keep in mind though, that there is more to doing this job, than just travelling into space, “The lure of this career path is definitely going to space, but the path that an Astronaut will take, a lot of it will be training on Earth.”
Applications are being accepted until August 15th, and the selected candidates will be announced in the summer of 2017.
