The spring-like weather from the past few days is about to be replaced with a blast of winter on Thursday.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for New Brunswick on Tuesday morning.
Meteorologist Darin Borgel said snow will begin in southern regions on Thursday afternoon.
“It will likely mix with some ice pellets, maybe some freezing rain as well during the evening hours. Right along parts of the Fundy coast, the current indications are it might change over to rain for a little while,” said Borgel.
Borgel said southern New Brunswick will see between 10 and 15 centimetres of snow, depending on how much of the precipitation falls as ice pellets, freezing rain or rain.
Some communities in northern New Brunswick, where the precipitation will remain as snow, could see closer to 30 centimetres, he said.
Borgel said wind gusts between 50 and 60 kilometres could also cause some problems.
“Where it stays as snow, there could be a little bit of blowing snow and some reduced visibility. Not perfectly windy but enough that it would cause some visibility problems, for sure,” he said.
Borgel said precipitation should clear out in time for the Friday morning commute.
