Anglophone East Helps Victims In The West in Fort McMurray

Anglophone East School District is offering a way that its parents and students can pitch in and help those who were forced to leave their homes in Fort McMurray.

The School district is stepping up to assist those affected by the wildfires.

Superintendant Gregg Ingersoll says even though this is happening five provinces away, it is affecting New Brunswickers as well.

He says families with children have returned home..and are now attending schools in this region, “We’ve been receiving some students from Fort McMurray into our school district registering. Many of the families are coming home instead of staying in temporary residences in Fort Mac.”

Ingersoll says the schools and the district have always pitched in to help when tragic events like this happen,
“Schools will get involved and do their own fundraiser and contribute to the larger campaign. In this case, we just thought we would make everyone aware in case they are interested in contributing to this.”

Donations can be made through School Cash online or by sending a donation to your child’s school.

Ingersoll says even the smallest amount helps.
