Contingency plans are being made for those who receive family support payments by mail, in the case of a work stoppage at Canada Post.
Clients who receive their cheques in the mail are advised to make alternate arrangements, by signing up for direct deposit.
Payments issued after June 22nd, will not be sent by mail, as a precaution, in the case that there is a strike or lockout of Canada Post workers.
If you are unable to arrange for direct deposit, you may be able to pick up your cheques at one of eight judicial district offices of the Court of Queen’s Bench, Bathurst, Campbellton, Edmundston, Fredericton, Moncton, Miramichi, Saint John and Woodstock. Pickup requests may be arranged by contacting the central payment unit at 506-444-4131.
Clients may verify that a payment has been made by visiting the program’s website. Registration is necessary for first-time users. Clients may also call the Infoline at 1-888-488-3767.
Also, those who normally make their family support payments by mail, are encouraged to use online or telephone banking instead..or in person at a Service New Brunswick office.
A work stoppage at Canada Post could happen as early as July 2nd..
