Attack On Sunny Brae Home Shocks Family

A young family in Sunny Brae is still shaken up from an attack on their home early this morning.

Marc Merhebi says he heard popping noises at around 1:30 am and went downstairs to check out the situation.

“I just happened to look at one of the windows, and there were holes in the windows and that’s when it got really scary. All the holes were the same size and so you just start thinking… bullet hole, or something drastic,” he says.

Meherbi says metal balls were also found inside and believes they were fired using a slingshot, and says he saw someone on bicycle around the time of the incident but police were unable to locate a suspect.

He says in addition to the trauma, they will now have to cover the cost of repairs, which isn’t quite significant enough to be covered by insurance.

“They don’t think of the trauma, they don’t think about the financial side of it either. They don’t think ‘now these people have to go and spend $1200 to do the repairs on the home’. We want the community to be aware that this is happening so hopefully this doesn’t happen again to anyone else,” he says.
