Inmate Caught With Drugs At Dorchester Prison

A contraband seizure has been made in the medium security unit of Dorchester Penitentiary.

Officials say an inmate was caught trying to bring contraband into the prison.

Suboxone and dilaudid pills were seized by staff earlier this week with an estimated value of more than $10,000.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) adds many tools are used to prevent drugs from entering the prison system including ion scanners and drug-detector dogs.

CSC also has a telephone tipline available to report activities related to prison security.

The toll-free number, 1-866-780-3784, helps ensure that the information shared is protected and that callers remain anonymous.
