Many gathered at Bore View Park to remember three members of the Moncton Police Force.
A monument with their names was moved there from Victoria Park
Cst. Joseph Steadman, Cpl. Aurèle Bourgeois and Cst. Michael O’Leary all died in the line of duty.
Corporal Bourgeois’ son, Charlie Bourgeois was at the re-dedication ceremony.
“He was a great man, he cared about his community. He loved being a police officer and helping people. Really, that would have been my career if not for taking the hockey path. So, I salute all of the officers that put their life on the line, every day,” Bourgeois says.
He says the monument’s new location, next to the RCMP building is more fitting and is grateful for the community’s continued support.
