Contraband Seized At Dorchester Prison

A large number of contraband items have been seized at the medium security prison in Dorchester.

Staff have seized heroin, cocaine-laced paper, hydromorphine beads, shatter (a THC byproduct) and marijuana.

The street value of the drugs is estimated at almost $70,000.

Meantime, prison staff also seized more than 600 nicotine patches worth more than $63,000.

The seizures have been made over the last several weeks.

The Correctional Service notes this seizure is the result of the combined efforts of correctional staff including drug-detector dog teams and security intelligence information.

The investigation is ongoing and police are being contacted for possible criminal charges.
