The opioid drug crisis continues to plague much of the country and New Brunswick is no exception.
Chief medical officer Dr. Jennifer Russell says the province is continuing to be vigilant.
An opioid coordinator and several working groups are monitoring the situation.
She says right now the focus is on reducing the stigma surrounding drug abuse.
She adds that will hopefully pave the way for individuals to seek out resources and treatment.
Dr. Russell recently sounded the alarm over a new opioid-related street drug called furanyl-fentanyl which has claimed one life in northern New Brunswick.
