There was a slight rise in voter turnout for the provincial election on September 24.

New Brunswick’s Chief Electoral Officer Kim Poffenroth says the number of voters who cast ballots increased by around 2.5 per cent, “We had a voter turnout this year of 67.1 per cent, whereas voter 64.5 per cent.”

Poffenroth says they saw a significant increase in students that voted, “The number of university and college students who voted at our campus polling locations. That was almost a 20 per cent increase at those specific polls.”

The highest voter turnout was in the Acadian Pennisula, and the lowest in the Saint John Harbour riding.
