Senator John McCain Has Died

U.S. Senator John McCain died on Saturday at the age of 81 after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

The former presidential candidate was diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma last summer.

On Friday, the family of McCain announced he had made the decision to discontinue medical treatment.

Daughter Meghan McCain says her father was “a great fire who burned bright” but the family knows his flame will keep living on in each of them.

Cindy McCain says her husband passed the way he lived, on his own terms, surrounded by the people he loved, in the place he loved best.

Tributes are pouring in from around the world, including right here in Canada.

Even President Donald Trump, who openly feuded with the former presidential candidate, sent his condolences on Twitter.
