The City of Moncton is issuing a precautionary advisory now that blue-green algae has been found in Irishtown Nature Park.
Algae has collected along the banks of the reservoir due to recent warm temperatures.
Officials say kayaking and canoeing in the reservoir have been suspended and pet owners are urged to keep dogs out of the water and not let them drink it.
Department of Health signage has been posted along the trails and all access points to water.
The City of Moncton will update the situation if conditions change.
