Conservative Critic Says Atlantic Canada Losing Voices In Ottawa

The Conservative Shadow Minister for Atlantic Canada believes the region is losing voices at the table in Ottawa.

Rob Moore says the minister responsible for ACOA is still not based here almost three years after the Trudeau government came to power.

“A very important portfolio for us in Atlantic Canada is fisheries, of course, and we don’t have that either. So we’re not seeing a great return on having elected 32 Liberal MPs,” he notes.

Former fisheries minister Dominic LeBlanc is now Intergovernmental Affairs minister after a recent cabinet shuffle while the new fisheries minister is based on the West Coast.

Moore adds our regional voice is also getting lost in policy with what he calls attacks on small business or the carbon tax which impacts all Atlantic Canadians.
