Canada’s premiers are gathering in Saint Andrews this week for meetings, but they’re not the only ones.
The New Brunswick Federation of Labour is welcoming its counterparts to the seaside community.
President Patrick Colford tells us for the last 16 years, the labour federation presidents have met in the same community as the premiers.
“It’s just an opportunity for us to come together, similar to the premiers, to talk about the issues that matter the most to workers in our provinces,” says Colford.”
They’ll be discussing pharmacare, employees being able to work in other provinces, and more collaboration between the provinces and labour.
The labour federation presidents are also expected to meet with some of the premiers at some point on Wednesday.
Colford says Saint Andrews is a wonderful spot to showcase the beauty of our province to the rest of the country.
“Some of the feedback I’ve been getting from my colleagues here is ‘wow, what a hidden gem that Saint Andrews is’ and that’s true,” he says.
“We’ve known it and it’s a great opportunity for us to showcase it.”
