Hospice Shoppe Launches Annual Angels Remembered Campaign

When it comes to an end of life journey, many people don’t want to be in a hospital.

The Hospice Shoppe wants to be able to offer an alternative to that.

Executive Director Tradina Meadows-Forgeron says they’ve launched their annual Angels Remembered Campaign, in an effort to raise money towards a 10 bed palliative care facility.

You can honour your loved ones by purchasing an Angels Remembers tag, or a handmade or acrylic angel. All of the angels are made by volunteers, who also go into the homes of palliative care patients, and assist them with appointments, or just spend some time with them, “We really want to see that our clients have their own room, and that they are not in a room with four other patients, that they have their loved ones close by, because it is their end of life journey.”

“If we can offer alternatives to a hospital, that is something is high on our list of priorities,” Board Chair Dr. Jamie Penfold says.

The campaign runs until December 23rd.

“Our goal is to reach 20, 000 this year. I am sure we are going to make it, we have some beautiful community support, some wonderful volunteers,” Meadows-Forgeron says.
