Southwest NB Service Commission Signs Memorandum Of Understanding With Province

The Southwest New Brunswick Service Commission has signed a memorandum of understanding with the provincial government.

The announcement was made in Lawrence Station today, which will encourage collaboration and help grow local and regional economies.

The initiative is led by Opportunities New Brunswick, with similar agreements being made in the coming weeks with each of the province’s 12 commissions.

Under the agreement, a community economic development executive will be placed in the region, and meet with municipal government and local service districts, industry groups and other stakeholders on a regular basis to discuss economic opportunities.

Recruitment has begun for the position, with an employee expected to be in place in January.
