Two NB Swimmers Win Bronze At Canada Games

Team New Brunswick swimmers Jacob Gallant and Brooklyn Douthwright each won a bronze medal on Tuesday at the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

Gallant of Fredericton claimed bronze in the men’s 400-metre medley event at the Pan Am Pool.

“I have been dreaming of this for years,” said Gallant after the race. “I was trying to hold my own and take it home on the breaststroke.”

Minutes later, Douthwright of Riverview tied for third and won a bronze medal in the women’s 100-metre freestyle event.

“I am really happy with my performance,” she said. “Tonight, I took it out as fast as I could.”

Tuesday’s medal performance in the pool lifts Team New Brunswick’s medal count to 10: three gold, two silver and five bronze medals.
