Getting ready for beach time in New Brunswick? Before you go, download the brand-new version of the Swim Guide app.
This app, is maintained by the Conservation Council of New Brunswick, and provides info about beaches, including directions, amenities, and even water quality.
Executive Director Lois Corbett says it features thousands of beaches, “Over 7000 beaches in Canada, New Zealand, all of the US and in Mexico.”
The latest version is offered in English, French and Spanish and it has over a million users worldwide.
Corbett says there are specific things users can find out about the beaches, “They can find out whether or not the beaches are lifeguard supervised, can they rent bikes and what is the water quality like.”
She adds they are hoping to inspire people, “Sunlight is the best disinfectant. We feel quite strongly that if people have quick and direct access, that they will not only get out and swim more, but they will also treasure more and protect more.”
Swim Guide was created by Swim Drink Fish Canada in collaboration with Waterkeepers across Canada, including the Conservation Council. The Council maintains the information on the app for More than a dozen recreational swimming sites throughout New Brunswick.
