Host Families Needed For International Air Cadet Exchange Tour

Sixty-nine Air Cadets will be taking part in this years International Exchange Tour.

They’ll be arriving in the Hub City on July 28th.

Coordinator Sue Madden says they are coming in from around the world, We have them coming from Australia, Belgium, France, Hong Kong, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Korea, United Kingdom and United States.”

Host families are needed, and they are asked to provide a weekend home to two or more air cadets, “Each cadet has to have their own bed. It can be two beds in one rook, or separate bedrooms.”

Their first stop here is a tour of the air traffic control centre in Riverview.

The group will gather at the end of the tour on July 30th, for a farewell BBQ for cadets and host families at Rotary Lodge in Centennial Park.

Madden says the families help to teach the cadets about Maritime life and about Canada. She adds they learn more about the foods we eat, and what we do for fun.

Every person living in the household over the age of 18 needs to have a clear PRC (police records check) done.

Reimbursement of actual expenses is not available, but a tax receipt for a per diem amount can be claimed after the visit happens.
