MADD Warns Of Dangers Of Impaired Boating

If you’re planning on heading out onto the waters this weekend, remember to leave the alcohol on shore.

Spokesperson for Mothers Against Drunk Driving Susan MacAskill says you can be charged for the impaired operation of a boat.

Provincial and federal laws govern when alcohol can be carried and consumed on a vessel.

MacAskill says, in most jurisdictions, alcohol cannot be consumed by the operator or a passenger onboard a boat.

A 32 year old man was charged with impaired driving on Canada Day, after a collision between two boats in Shediac Bay.

The man was arrested later that day while docking in Grand-Barachois.
