Is this the year Willie O’Ree will become part of the Hockey Hall of Fame?
We’ll find out Tuesday afternoon when the National Hockey League announces this year’s inductees.
Back in January, O’Ree was celebrated in Boston for having broken the colour barrier in the NHL 60 years ago.
That prompted a Fredericton woman to spearhead efforts to have him become part of the hall of fame.

Former NHL players Gerry “Red” Ouellette, Danny Grant and Mike Eagles have given their support, along with Premier Brian Gallant, former premiers David Alward and Frank McKenna, and Senator David Adams Richards.
O’Ree has already been inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame and the Order of Canada.
