New Rules Coming For Booting Cars In City Of Moncton

The City of Moncton is cracking down on booting, with a new Vehicle Immobilization By-Law.

It was discussed at last night’s Moncton City Council meeting.

Mayor Dawn Arnold says, “We have imposed a maximum immobilization fee set at $45, which is similar to a parking ticket.”

The By-law includes a $100 fee charged to all vehicle immobilization businesses for a city issued license.

All parking lots where booting occurs will be required to display signs with clear specifications.

If a car is being booted, a written notice must be placed on the windshield to explain why.

Arnold stated that this issue has been a priority for a number of years.

A second and third reading of the by-law will be done at the next regular Moncton City Council meeting.

The full by-law can be found at Moncton.ca.
