New Group Raises Concerns About New Brunswick’s Sustainability

Daryl Branscombe is concerned about the overall welfare and sustainability of New Brunswick.

That’s why he and about two dozen others have formed a group called the Coalition of Concerned Citizens of New Brunswick.

The non-partisan group wants to build awareness of the province’s fiscal situation and the opportunities that could help address it.

While debt is the group’s biggest issue, Branscombe tells us it’s not their only one.

“There’s a duplication of services that is very expensive in the province, there’s the education — I don’t think we’re getting the bang for the buck,” says Branscombe. “Then you have the issue of labour, not enough people, all kinds of businesses around that can’t find people to work.”

Branscombe says they want politicians to make decisions based on evidence — not on what will give them a win in the next election.

The group is a cross-section of business leaders, academics, former government civil servants and others.
