Moncton Mother Says Autism Has Its Challenges, But There Are Also Rewards

Children and adults with Autism are being celebrated today.

It is World Autism Awareness Day.

A Moncton woman knows first hand what it is like to deal with a child who has been diagnosed.

Lorri Meunier’s son has Autism..and she says you quickly learn that no child comes with a manual, and you learn as you go, “Things that some parents might apply to a majority of other kids, that the kids would follow, won’t necessarily apply to your child because their understanding and interpretation is different.”

Meunier says she admires her son for a lot of things.

“He doesn’t really seem too affected by others moods and he can be very honest. he is very loving and caring. We love how he looks at things in such different ways.”

The provincial legislature will be lit in blue tonight, as New Brunswick celebrates World Autism Awareness Day.
