The Moncton Fisher Cats are heading to Victoria BC this August to represent New Brunswick at the Baseball Nationals.
Executive Board Member Melissa Lombard says in an effort to keep the costs down, they have planned their first ever 5K Fun Run, “We’re looking at running the bases at the end of the run to the finish line. The players will be out there, along the route, and it’s a family event. We were just trying to think of something fun to do to raise some money for this trip.”
Lombard says you can walk or run, whichever you prefer. The run is being held June 2nd, starting at the Field of Dreams at the CN Sportsplex.
“There will definitely be some players along the route, cheering people on. You’ll get the chance to meet the players for this season,” Lombard says.
They are hoping to see at least 150 runners take part.
