Calling all playwrights!
NotaBle Acts is looking for your entries for their 17th annual province wide competition.
Spokesperson Rowan Miller says it is open to anyone, who would like to write a play.
“We’ve accepted plays from seasoned professional writers who have done work in major cities across Canada, to those who have never written a play before,” Miller says.
There are three categories, one for 15-30 minute site-specific plays, one for 7-10 minute short plays and another for 30-60 minute one-act plays. Students in New Brunswick Middle and High schools are also eligible to enter scripts for two other categories of the playwriting contest.
“You just have to write the script. The winners are selected and will have their plays performed at the 2018 NotaBle Acts Summer Theatre Festival in Fredericton. The playwright will also receive a cash prize and mentoring from a professional. They will help bring your script up to where it needs to be for a professional production,” Miller says.
Your play can be about anything you choose.
The deadline for entries is April 23rd. Copies of the contest rules and guidelines, as well as instructions on how to submit, are available at www.nbacts.com. Questions about the contest can be directed to lfalken@unb.ca or (506) 458-7406.
