NB Power has formally asked that its request for the so-called weather tax be dropped.
The idea for the proposed levy was to recoup extreme storm costs and the Crown Corporation has asked the Energy and Utilities Board to withdraw its ask for this rate adjustment mechanism.
NB Power president Gaëtan Thomas says in a release that they’ve heard from their shareholder, the government, and customers who are anxious about the impact of this.
Thomas goes on to say that they recognize customers are uncomfortable with the uncertainty an adjustment mechanism could create.
