Green Party Leader Says Transition House Workers Deserve A Raise

The Green party leader is calling on the Gallant government to increase funding to help out Transition Houses in the provinces.

David Coon says wages have been frozen at $13.00 an hour for these workers but the wages for CEO’s of crown corporations could go a long way to help Transition Houses.

Coon says if you can afford to have the CEO of NB Power making $245 per hour, head of NB Liquor $137 per hour and the CEO of Opportunities NB making $112 per hour, money must be in the system to help transition house workers.

Coon says last year alone Transition Houses in the province sheltered 580 women and 350 women in New Brunswick who were fleeing abusive relationships.
