Provincial By-Election Nominations Now Open

Nominations are now open for provincial by-elections in December.

There are 31 vacancies in 23 New Brunswick communities.

They were left vacant with the recent provincial election.

In Moncton, one councillor is needed.

Rob McKee resigned his city councillor seat after being elected as Moncton Centre MLA.

Nominations must be in by November 16th.

By-elections will be held on December 10th.

The communities with vacant positions are:

  • Alma (one councillor);
  • Aroostook (mayor and one councillor)
  • Bathurst (one councillor);
  • Beaubassin East (councillors for wards 3 and 4);
  • Dalhousie (one councillor);
  • Doaktown (mayor);
  • Florenceville-Bristol (one councillor for ward 2);
  • Hanwell (mayor);
  • Hartland (one councillor);
  • Lac Baker (one councillor);
  • Memramcook (one councillor);
  • Minto (mayor and one councillor);
  • Moncton (one councillor for Ward 3);
  • Nackawic (one councillor);
  • Rexton (one councillor);
  • Rivière-Verte (one councillor);
  • Sackville (one councillor);
  • Saint Andrews (one councillor);
  • Salisbury (one councillor);
  • Shediac (mayor);
  • St. George (one councillor);
  • Sussex Corner (mayor and one councillor); and
  • Tracadie (one councillor for ward 1, one councillor for ward 2 and two councillors for ward 7).
